Do not get me stated on illegal aliens caught participating in violence toward women. Two are dead now and at least two I know of have been raped. Of them, at least two have been deported at least once. If this doesn't stop, there is going to be a full-fledged uprising long before November elections. Democrats should be aware they are on the chopping block for many voters.
DeSantis is stepping on what should be a parental decision. I know when my grandchildren were little my daughter stalked their Facebook pages and game boards nightly. She questioned anyone she didn't know. Their pages are still private. They are both adults now.
Not all parents are created equal. Also, some older generation parents are not versed in tech and the ever changing lineup of apps that kids use. It is so easy for a child to become a victim on social media platforms. Even the most vigilant parents can't monitor everything online.
I agree, but I still think parents need to put safeguards in place. My profile was private until I needed it to be public for my business. I still get men hitting on me. I block them. That's not why my profile is public. I'm an author and I coach up and coming authors.
Chicago board of Prisons is much like Michigan threatening to let violent criminals out of jail. Ridiculous! Reopen the prisons you have closed. Shift prisoners around, but violent criminals do NOT get released to repeat offend. It's why we have the three strikes you're out law. Okay the person with 3 DUIs who has never done anything but wreck their own car, you can release them, but put them in mandatory AA meetings. Don't renew their driver's license. Don't let them register or buy a car. With those conditions in place, you can release them. Not if they have kicked someone. Rapists, I'm all for castration chemical or otherwise. Then you could consider releasing them. Their victim/s need to be informed first. Anyone one else who has committed a violent crime or a crime against children, or with a weapon, stays in jail until time is served or death overcomes them.
I do agree with the now squatters law. I remember when the city of Flint started tearing down vacant houses to get rid of squatters. Still, we have to do something for the homeless. I know in some places homeless people have to be out of shelters by 8am and cannot return before 6pm. Then there is no guarantee they will get a room inside, even in winter. This is because it's first come, first serve. Family shelters are even harder to find. Boys over the age of 11 in most places, cannot stay with their mother's in a women's shelter. The safety of a lone male child in a men's shelter is not guaranteed. A night on the street could be worse.
Ann Arbor schools is doing it right. They are asking the community what to cut. While I was teaching, we went from a teaching staff of 154 to a teaching staff of 120. The general public wanted teachers to lose their as one parent put it, "their Cadillac insurance." Referring to MESSA offered to educators. The teachers all laughed. I was in my 20th year of teaching and we had not had MESSA insurance during my time there. The school board assured the public, that issue would be a priority. Since we had the minimum the district we had to it's lowest level, it was a non-issue. No one asked teachers or support staff what they thought, nor did they ask any of the students.
