Since when do states have an Office of Defense? Is she planning to make Michigan her own little nation? Whose ass is she pulling this money from? Middle class would be my thoughts. That woman is crazier that Jennifer Granholm was and that's saying a lot.
I agree the Dems spent a lot of time cultivating baby boomers and they have turn on those same people. Do they really expect us to look up to them now? We see them for the liars, cheats, and thieves they are.
Giving assylum seekers $2,000 to go to school is ridiculous. A $51,000 salary is reasonable. Teachers are required by law to get 6 hours of classes to stay relevant in their subject area every 5 years. By the time they do this they first obtain a Masters Degree and then they end up with an Education Specialist Degree and finally a Ph. D. in education of some kind. Masters Degree classes start at about $1000/credit hour now. Ed. Specialist courses could run as high as $1500/credit and for a Ph. D. you can expect to pay $2000/credit. To get your Masters you need a total of 36 credit hours. First year teachers have 5 years to get 18 of these. So, while paying off undergrad student loans at about $700/mo they now have to come up with the money for 18 additonal credit hours we are talking $18,000 which we can divide by 5 years. Every year for 5 years they need $3600 to pay for these classes not counting the cost of books. Plus their $700/mo=$8400 for student loans already used. The starting salary for a teacher is about $38,000. That's 12,000 already gone. Most classes have to be done in a spring/summer setting to not interfere with teaching or coaching or both. So, $51,000 is not out of line. The average earnings to be above poverty in this country is $98,487. That is three times higher than poverty level which is $32,829 and that's just for an individual.

She is part of the reason I no longer live in Michigan.

Buy less for more is what they are testing. Are you willing to pay more for a smaller cookie? Seriously, tell them I'll make my own.
