Vassar Schools Place Teacher on Administrative Leave Amid Snapchat Allegations
Teacher placed on leave during internal review
VASSAR, Mich. The Vassar School District has placed a high school teacher on administrative leave after learning of allegations involving communication with recent graduates on Snapchat, according to district officials.
In a written statement, the Vassar superintendent Steve Clark said the district recently became aware of allegations that a teacher had communicated with former students who have already graduated. The district said there is no evidence at this time involving current students.
The teacher was placed on administrative leave while the Vassar School District conducts an internal investigation. The superintendent said the move follows standard district procedures and that student safety remains the district’s top priority.
At this time, there is no law enforcement involvement, according to the statement. The superintendent said that if the investigation identifies information warranting referral to authorities, the district will take that step in accordance with board policy.

Clark asked for patience as the investigation continues, cautioning that premature conclusions could undermine the integrity of the process.
Because the matter involves personnel and the investigation is ongoing, the Vassar School District said it is unable to provide additional details. Clark said the district remains committed to maintaining a safe learning environment and to handling the matter responsibly and within the limits of the law.

I don't understand this. My students could not friend me on Facebook until they had gone to the high school. Many of their parents were on my facebook page. I double checked with each parent before adding their children. If a parent said no, I would have ignored their child. Not one parent said no. They only private messaged me if they had an issue they didn't know how to handle. For the most part, they were simple issues I could give them options for. Ultimately, they made the best decisions. They are all out of school now. Many are married with families. They still ask me for advice.
