AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Two people were injured in a shooting at Great Lakes Crossing on Saturday, prompting a large law enforcement response and an active investigation, authorities said.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said it is assisting the Auburn Hills Police Department with the investigation.
Preliminary information indicates two individuals sustained injuries. Authorities said one suspect is in custody.
Officials have not released the conditions of the injured individuals or identified those involved. No additional details about what led to the shooting were immediately available.
I just talked to a man who said his daughter was at the mall at the time:
My daughter is trying to get out of Great Lakes Crossing still….traffic is terrible with everyone leaving the mall. My daughter hid in the stock room of a store with other customers and employees.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office urged the public to avoid the area while emergency personnel and investigators continue their work.
The investigation remains ongoing.
