Vessel overdue after departing Gambill’s Landing Tuesday afternoon
SAGINAW BAY, Mich. —
UPDATE: May 6 - 1:39 p.m. - Authorities report the bodies of the three men have been recovered. I will udpate this when I learn any more details.
The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for three men reported missing after their fishing vessel failed to return Tuesday evening on Saginaw Bay.
U.S. Coast Guard Sector Detroit said it received a report of an overdue vessel around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday. The boat had departed Gambill’s Landing earlier in the afternoon and was headed to fish near an area known as the “Black Hole” off Pinconning.
Authorities said three adult men were on board: Chris Whitmer, Ron Whitmer, and Chris “Stanley” Whitmer Sr.

The Coast Guard, along with local officials, has launched a search for the vessel and its occupants. No additional details about the boat or conditions were immediately released.

The search remains ongoing.
