The battle with Alzheimers and a possible cure?
My mom and Alzheimers
I moved to Michigan back in 2015 to be closer to my mom and family.
My mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2013 and fortunately, has been on a very slow decline.
Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s takes a lot of patience and dedication.
My sister has done the most when it comes to my mom because she lives in the Metro Detroit area.
Alzheimer’s runs in my family. Almost all of my aunts have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
This recent article showed that there may soon be a cure for Alzheimer’s.
Aducanumab is a human monoclonal antibody that has been studied for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It was developed by Biogen Inc.
FDA officials and advisers though do not agree the drug should be approved.
They question the data, much of which comes from two studies Biogen stopped early two years ago, because the drug seemed so hopeless at the time.
But Biogen later came back and reversed itself, saying there was positive data in the stopped studies, after all.
Then, in November, the FDA drew criticism even from its own advisers after its close collaboration with Biogen. The FDA and Biogen produced a positive, joint review of the aducanumab to an advisory committee meeting.
I do know that with my mom being 87-years-old when will most likely not be helped by any cure.
At times I am frustrated with my mom but always try to remember she is suffering and her illness is something she can’t control.
How do you cope with being a caregiver of someone with Alzheimer’s.

My dad almost made it to 81 when he passed in 2016. Being close to him and his caretaker was definitely an emotional rollercoaster but he left me with much expressed gratitude for all I did for him.... and that is a priceless gift I'll keep in my heart forever
My mother in law has late onset Alzheimer's. My husband who is a scientist has spent the last 10 years reading the scientific literature to find a way(s) to help his mother. He achieved his goal. This information he learned is so important my husband and I have set up a website, blogs on blogger, I have a facebook group, videos on you tube and a website. My husbands name is Dennis N Crouse and he has written 4 evidence based books which are available on Amazon. A great deal of the information from the books are at our blogs. This information will help people who has Alzheimer's as well as people who want to prevent Alzheimer's. https://prevent-alzheimers-autism-stroke.com/
