Denial of reality is a common problem in both the Chicago schools story and the Boy Scout story. Denial of a crime problem denies the kids the education we pay for. As a parent of both boys and girls, they are different creatures. Any time a problem is misidentified, it can never be solved. If you misidentify 5 x 5 as 5 + 5, you get the wrong answer.
Flint Northern High School had a liaison officers in the building in 1986. They broke up fights and caught thieves. Crime in the high school went down because the two officers were there. Students knew and trusted them. At one time we had a liaison officer in the middle school where I was teaching. The difference in behavior and discipline problems went down drastically. However the grant we got disappeared and we got stuck with Officer Hold up the Wall. Had his cup of coffee and stood holding up the wall during the time kids passed between classes. Did not interact with the kids on any level. Spent the rest of the time in the school secretary's office until she said to the principal I don't have time to baby-sit this man. He was gone a week later. It's too bad the ones Chicago had were ineffective. Liaison Officers who actually take time with the kids can turn lives around.
News flash, Boy Scouts of America had allowed girls to participate since the 1970s. Where have y'all been. Transgender should never have been an issue for them.
Gee have these so called Assylum seekers bothered to look for work? Have the bothered to try and get green cards so they can work or are they just waiting for the US taxpayer to continue supporting them indefinitely? Cuz, the money will run out. You have to help yourself or go back home.
