Education Departmentâs Return on Investment? Zero. Shut It Down.
In fiscal 2024, when President Joe Biden was still in office and the federal government was running a $1.8 trillion deficit, the Department of Education spent three times as much as the Department of Homeland Security and six times as much as the Department of Justice.
The Department of Homeland Security, according to the Treasury Department, spent $89.290 billion. The Department of Justice spent $43.995 billion; and the Department of Education spent $268.353 billion.
President Donald Trump issued an executive order in March directing his administration to prepare for the closure of the Department of Education.
This is the right move.
Both the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security exist to carry out fundamentalâand constitutionalâfunctions of the federal government. The primary job of Homeland Security is to secure this nationâs borders and protect its interior from people who are illegally present here, including terrorists. The primary job of the Justice Department is to enforce federal laws and prosecute violators. Click here to read more.

The USDA, under a Trump executive order, recently required states to turn over five yearsâ worth of personal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipient data â including Social Security numbers, home addresses, income, and immigration status â under the claim of wanting to detect overpayments and fight fraud. Michiganâs name for the program is the Food Assistance Program (FAP).

Virginia Dad Suspended From Pool After Calling Out Boy In Girlsâ Races
A Virginia father was suspended from a local pool after alerting officials to a boy competing against girls in several swimming races.
Woodley Pool, located in Fairfax County, claims they are suspending Luis Enrique Fernandez, a father of six, for allegedly using ârepeated vulgarityâ toward a parent and members of an opposing team and acting in a âthreatening and abusiveâ manner.
However, speaking exclusively to The Daily Wire, Fernandez says the account is not true. The father of six, who has been a paying member of the club since 2019, suspects the Woodley Pool board is punishing him for speaking out about the male competing against females, while using a flimsy pretext â which Fernandez vehemently disputes â as cover. Puppies saved from house of horrors find safety: âSweet as can beâ
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. â Dorris and her puppies Agatha, Bernard, Alfred, Edmund, Milton and Mabel have traveled a long way.
They, along with 23 other dogs, are now resting at the Virginia Beach SPCA after being rescued from a home in South Carolina.
âThey werenât living in the best conditions,â said Kirstin Decroix with the VBSPCA. âThere was alleged dog fighting going on, but you could not tell with the behavior of these animals. They were as sweet as can be. The rescuers even said when they got there that they werenât met with scared mean dogs. They were met with hopeful happy dogs, tails wagging.â
Often times, shelters see a hesitation to adopt dogs who are rescued from dog fighting situations. The Virginia Beach SPCA is reminding people that all dogs are different and typically just want to feel safe. Click here to read more.
