Just like public schools not all charter schools are bad. They are in all honesty a new form of segregation. They have been for years in the inner city. People who wanted their kids in charter schools to get out of Detroit Public Schools, Flint Public Schools and Grand Rapids Public Schools flocked to charter schools in an effort to give their children a chance at a better education. Sadly, MEAP scores in fourth grade showed charter schools were not doing better. I know of a couple who are flourishing. Any school using a program that tests every single book a child check out of the library is killing the desire to read in children. Accelerated Reading, does not accelerate reading in any child. It makes reading a punishment. When you turn reading off in children, they no longer want to read to learn. My granddaughter quit reading. They were making her read books she was not interested in, but the tests said she could read them. So, they made her check them out. Seriously, there is NO research that says testing after reading every single book is good for children.

Inflation is so high it's scary. I spent over $200 for groceries. Did not buy any meat. With coupons I saved $37.27. I was on an Amigo and the basket held maybe 8 bags of groceries. What a joke. My meat comes every other month from Butcher Box for $99. I feel bad for families. There are more and more people standing outside Walmart looking for work to feed their families. I donate to God's Food Pantry in our county, but I cannot feed them all.

I did dual enrollment in my senior year of high school. I got my basic composition courses out of the way. (That would have been 1971-72) I was able to apply for college as a transfer student. My daughter took sign language as her foreign language because she could not get Spanish at her high school. I had a student in middle school who was taking courses at the local community college from 5th-8th grades. My daughter had more high school credits than her class Valedictorian. This is the best programs for students who cannot get into advance placement classes or for those in smaller schools who don't offer advance placement classes. Ogemaw Heights High School had young men taking auto mechanics at the local community college and when they graduated high school they were about 2 classes short of their Associates Degree. The high school offered a program in building. The students in this program got drafting, learned to read building plans, learned what was required by law to be done to build a home and built three homes in the community and sold them. Pet of the money from the sale of the homes came back to the school to fund the program. Not all kids are college bound.

Marriage is a personal choice. Some high school students are so focused on college, that marriage is put on the back burner. Others are career focused. They want a chance to be on their own before settling down. Coming from a broken home or a single parent home also gives kids a different look on life than a child from a two parent family.

If the UK has a weapon to help those in the Ukraine, more power to them.
