That equity grading needed to never have been introduced. That's as bad as M=Mastery and could be anywhere from 100%-80%, N=new topic, P=passing and could be anywhere from 79%-60% and anything else was failing. Parents thought their kids were doing well until they hit fourth grade where the teachers gave actual percentages, then parents were mad because they thought their kids were passing and they were actually getting D's. Parents understand a grading system where a letter represents a certain percentage. They don't understand this other nonsense. The thing is the kids don't understand it either.

That's sad to lose Job Corps. I know some people who benefited from the program when it was running right. A good friend of mine became a teacher through the program. I believe she taught 15 years before throwing in the towel. It's hard when you are forced to crowd fund for supplies for an art room every single year. Art is thought to be a special add-on course with no meaning and it truly is a course where some children excel. With the right teacher some children who you would not expect to thrive do.
