Governor Whitless is one of the biggest liars on the planet. She did NOT team up with Ohio and Kentucky who invited her to be part of their alliance. Because they are border states, they have Kentuckians working in Ohio and Ohioans working in Kentucky. The asked that people only cross the border for work or doctors appointments. They closed all businesses who could not provide drive through services or were essential by providing food and necessities. As many restaurants as could did take out. Some had already had that as an option. I could go to the post office. I could go to the grocery store, I could go to doctor's appointments. School was an issue in KY as most children did not have access to internet. There is a big press in Kentucky to have service available to every home by the end of this year. I need Spectrum to get here soon. Windstream is killing me. Whitless closed down Michigan and put Mom and Pop businesses out of business. But she opened Traverse City to their horror, so she could throw a graduation open house for her daughter and 500 of their closest friends and family. While MY granddaughter had a drive by open house for her college graduation and when they finally held it two years later at MSU she could only get tickets for two parents, grandparents and great grandparents were not allowed. Seriously, she's had 12 years to get the roads fixed? And she's crying because she mismanaged the infrastructure money. She's one of the greatest liars on the planet.
I'm sad for the university as it will take a while to recover from a financial setback. But Shrum, using her background as a physician as an excuse, means she knew she was doing the wrong thing. The fact she was in a conflict of interest situation, she should have stepped down from the board. I suspect you will find down the road that she and Pollard have some off shore investments that started as $11.5million. Seems odd they would resign the same week. There are no such things as coincidences.
That bus driver will live with this for the rest of their life. This was clearly an accident. I am sorry for the boy's family, but where were his parents or at least one of them? Why was he late? He should never have been running after a school bus. Give the driver a week off to get help to deal with this. He/she should not be charged.
Sometimes people need to look at the big picture. If it's going to result in a loss of money, is it worth it to make it a law? Crime is crime whether committed by a white person, a black person, or a person of any other ethnicity. I know I am naive, but I believe just for the same crime should be the same across the board. The only exception I would make to that is if a mentally impaired individual had been coerced into doing something criminal or did not have the capacity to understand what was done was wrong. Those folks need to be in an institution where God willing they could get help.
I'm laughing here. Jennifer Granholm do something underhanded. Absolutely without question, YES! She is just one more former Michigan Governor who has learned to lie well. She lied to the teachers who trusted her to get our money back that FAT John Engler stole. Right up there with cutting the pension tax that kicks in the first of every year and steals more that the 3% raise many school employees get. Because the tax is 4.25%. It's still there for those living in Michigan. The 3% is not a true 3%. It's 3% of what we got for retirement the first year we retired. For me that amounts to about $70/month every year. The same amount I got the first year gets added in every year. I paid in 3.9% of my pay every two weeks for the 28.5 years I worked. So, no they are not giving me back the entire 3.9%. No, they are not taking last year's pension and figuring out what 3% is to give me a raise. They figured 3% of my first year of pension and continue to give me that same amount every year. Then in January my insurance premiums go up because the money FAT John stole was money I and all the other school employees paid in so we could have decent insurance when we retired. It was in the budget to be returned in 2024, but the Demonrats in the legislature decided once again to fill the general fund and le the current governor waste the money on her pet projects. Michigan's legislature sucks and so does its governor.

Whitmer needs to go. I am saddened by the damage she has and will cause until the next election.
