A significant concern surrounding Michigan’s voter rolls has sparked debate and legal action, with many citizens raising alarms about the accuracy of the state's voter registration. Lauren Bowman from the Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) highlighted this issue in a recent interview, shedding light on an ongoing lawsuit involving Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson.
According to Bowman, Michigan’s voter rolls reportedly include 500,000 more names than eligible voters, with deceased individuals and outdated information causing concern. This issue first came to the forefront in 2020, when PILF provided Secretary Benson with the names of over 26,000 deceased registrants still listed on the voter rolls. After failing to receive action from the state, PILF filed a lawsuit, which is currently under review by the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Michigan Republicans have echoed PILF’s concerns, citing the potential for voter fraud due to inaccuracies in the rolls. However, Secretary Benson maintains that there is no widespread voter fraud in Michigan and plans to address these discrepancies by removing 600,000 names by 2027.

The debate comes at a crucial time, with many citizens expressing concern over the integrity of elections and a lack of trust in the system. Bowman emphasized the importance of transparency and clean voter rolls, noting that any errors could represent opportunities for fraud and abuse, particularly in local elections where small margins can impact outcomes.
This legal battle could set a significant precedent for how voter rolls are managed across the nation. As Michigan's case progresses, the outcome may force the state to implement more effective measures for maintaining voter integrity, ensuring confidence in future elections.
Both sides are expected to submit final briefs to the Sixth Circuit later this month, with a decision likely to follow, potentially shaping the future of election procedures in Michigan.

Not this time Gretchen we are watching you.
No voter roll issues ? Huh. So the 50k ballots found in a Muskegon storage unit by the MSP 8 or so months ago was no big deal. But then again they were all for Democrats so what’s the problem there ? What a bunch of crooks ! Disgusting !!
