West Ottawa and Zeeland West both educated my grand children on LBGTQ at age 13 and younger but left out what a Heterosexual was? Only one of my three 13 year old's guessed that it might be what his mom or dad are.

Why will the Superintendent not release the names of committee members? That should be public information.

These programs omit what is considered "normal" and emphasize that which is considered "abnormal." No child who is not 7th grade and up should ever be exposed to this unless they ask at home. This it a parental issue. I have said this for years. Get the damn POLITICAL stuff out of education altogether. It doesn't belong there. This is an adgenda. Why is abstinence not part of the health program??? That makes no sense at all. Why are we not teaching children about good and bad relationships? There are plenty of excellent programs for K-4 on good touch/bad touch. It might save more kids from being groomed by pedophiles. They need to know a good touch or a bad touch can come from a family member or a teacher, or any adult they know. They need to have one trusted person they can talk to at school. A counselor, principal, secretary, lunch personnel, a custodian, a teacher, a teacher's aide or paraprofessional. One person they can tell anything to. A bus driver. Someone who will listen. Someone who will report the bad when they hear it. Someon who let's the child feel safe. Having been a K-8 teacher, I know that kids need this. I have former students and parents who still come to me because that safe spot is still there.
