Should we be surprised? This seeming overlook on this teacher‘s background is not mere negligence, but more than likely intentional.
Public schools are nothing more than an indoctrination center to raise up worker bees, and to deliberately not teach children to think for themselves. Our founding fathers were all for publicly funded education, but they had no idea that Thomas Dewey and his buddies had a plan to take over the school systems with Marxist ideology.
Read the book The Battle for the American Mind by Pete Hegseth, which is one of many books on the detailed takeover of the public school systems over the last hundred years.

Excuse me. When was the last time you sat in a classroom to see what really goes on? You can do that. Do not lump all teachers in with this creep. Many work extremely hard to lift children up so the will become responsible citizens. I taught special education. Do you want to know how many of my former students are successful? I'd be happy to make you a list. One young man at his wedding reception told another that I was responsible for the man he had become. I told him to find what he really loved doing and go for it. He put himself through truck driving school after graduation. He could not drive state-to-state because he was not 21. So he took a job in Kansas and drove truckloads of wheat from the fields to the mills. He was gone from home from early March to November. He returned every year until he turned 21. He paid off his student loans and bought a house. I believe he was 25 when he got married. He now works for the road commission in his county, clearing snow from roads so it will be safe for bus drivers to pick up students and transport them to school. Does he use his brain to make sound decisions, I believe so. Am I truly responsible. I don't know his parents did a good job of raising him and his siblings. But don't say teachers don't try to get kids to think. Walk a day in the shoes of a teacher who got a phone call that a child's dog was hit by a car that morning while they were at the bus stop. Not only does that teacher have to teach 19-22 other students, she has to give this one some space to grieve. She had to be there when all of the sudden in the middle of the day the child can no longer be brave and breaks down. Or the child whose father sits all the kids on the sofa and they have to watch as he smacks mom around. Yes, that happens. Because every one of the kids will react differently. Or the all A student who misses days all the time, because someone has to stay home to give mom her medication and there is no one else to do it and Mom is dying. All this baggage comes into the classroom even if no one ever talks about it. I know those students. I know what it takes to reach them through trauma so they can be successful. That's the job of a good teacher.
The fee they want to charge is insane. It will not take that long to go find it either. They did that so she would drop her inquiry. Because if her child was a victim they know they have a law suit on their hands. It would be easier for the school to just comply without making it an issue.
