Michigan Public School District Employee Accused of Stalking Student in Harassment Investigation

Investigation Uncovers Shocking Allegations of Bullying by Trusted Staff Member, Leading to Felony Charge

SALINE, Mich. — A 41-year-old former employee of Saline Area Schools has been charged with stalking a minor following an investigation into a harassment case at Saline Middle School.

The case began in September when school administrators were notified about bullying involving handwritten notes targeting a middle school student. At the time, no suspect had been identified. Saline Middle School administrators and School Resource Officer Morgan Sieja launched an internal investigation, which included interviews with students and the discovery of additional notes over the course of three weeks.

Saline Police Officer Sieja identified the suspect as Alissa Reese, a district employee. Following this revelation, Reese was immediately relieved of her duties and ultimately terminated after the investigation concluded. The findings were submitted to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office in mid-November.

The Saline School District School Board held a meeting on November 12 and said publicly that a person by the name of Alissa Reese had been terminated. Reese was a middle school para educator.

Families with students in the affected classrooms were informed of the situation on October 25 by the Middle School Principal. Additionally, the Superintendent notified all families in the district after charges were filed with the Prosecutor’s Office.

On December 19, a felony warrant for stalking a minor was signed. Reese, a Manchester resident, was arraigned on December 21 and released on a personal recognizance bond. A probable cause conference is scheduled for January 9, 2025.

Saline Area Schools emphasized the seriousness of the matter and its commitment to ensuring student safety. Further information is expected to be released as the legal process unfolds.
