MERRILL, Mich. – A Saginaw County father says his second-grade daughter endured repeated bullying and even a knife threat at Merrill Elementary, and that school leaders failed to notify him about the incidents until weeks later.
File an FOIA report to the school. If local police were involved, make a visit to the township or city hall to inquire about the incident and get an FOIA.

I remember when a young boy threatened to bring a knife to school and kill her. She saw that he had the knife and went directly to the office before he saw her. They kept her in the office but notified my son-in-law. They called the boy's father. The father came in and his son was brought to the office. The knife had been confiscated, but he had his backpack. His dad demanded an explanation. He said she's a hoochie girl and I'm just tired of her being like that. His dad said did she do something to you? He said no, she was just a hoochie girl. The child was escorted to his dad's car. The principal stood with the dad just inside her office. She looked at the dad and said I don't know what definition your son is using for a hoochie girl. Look at the little girl sitting there waiting to see me. Is she a hoochie girl? The dad looked at her and said, No Way! That's the kind of girl I hope my son would like. The principal said, that's the hoochie girl he brought the knife in to kill. The dad wanted to melt into the floor. I will straighten him out, when can he come back. Give it a couple of days, so maybe Thursday, but he will be checked for a knife. You can check he won't have one in my house ever again. His mom or I will cut his steak or anything else that needs to be cut. Dad left. My granddaughter was called to the office an told he would not be back until Thursday, but if for any reason she felt she needed to talk to a counselor she should just ask her teacher to send her. Her dad was called an told what happened and she has been offered counseling. She did nothing wrong. The child in question confused something he overheard his dad say. His dad was mortified and the son is out of school until Thursday.
I have friend with a pre-school daughter age 3 who is very tiny. Some boy has picked on her to the point where he broke her arm in two places and nothing was done about it. She sat 4 hrs in class with a broken arm and the teacher carried her to the car, telling the mom she had been whiny and clingy all afternoon. Seriously, she had no idea anything was wrong. Up to this point it had been punches to her face. He lip split, her face scraped as she was pushed into the pavement and a bruised leg where the kid kicked her. Other parents and student knew what was going on, no one said a thing. Mom has talked to the principal who was aware because other parents and students had told him. Nothing was done, She called the Superintendent's office and was told that her child had a disability she should expect to be picked on. Um no. There isn't any documentation on this at the school. I told her to file a police report. I don't care if this kid is 4 years old. He needs to be stopped now before she is more seriously hurt.
This dad needs to do what Valerie Bury suggested. Do not let it wait another day. If the police were involved you want a copy of the police report. If one wasn't filed, make the complaint and see that it's filed. Bullying will only get worse.
