MIDLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Jillian Willsey and her family moved to Midland Township to enjoy the rural lifestyle and natural resources Michigan has to offer. With nearly two acres of land, Willsey planned to raise chickens to provide fresh eggs for her family. However, she soon discovered an ordinance requiring a minimum of five acres to keep livestock, including chickens, on residential property.
