Proposal would require parents and legal guardians to have access to their children's medical information.
LANSING, Mich. — Michigan lawmakers are considering legislation that would change when parents and legal guardians can access their children’s medical records.
House Bill 5974, introduced by Rep. Joe Aragona, would amend the state’s Medical Records Access Act to expand the circumstances under which parents or legal guardians can obtain a minor’s medical records, while recognizing exceptions required under federal law.
