The Libertarian Party of Michigan posted on its social media pages has disavoyed Libertarian Candidate Anthony Hudson for Governor.
Hudson released a lengthy statement to me a short time ago:
The Libertarian Party has chosen to disavow my campaign—and I’m perfectly comfortable with that.
I will never compromise my morals, my principles, or my convictions just to fit the narrative of any political party.
America was built by independent, free-thinking people. Our founders didn’t need a political party to tell them what to believe, what to say, or how to think.
Neither do you.
And in response to the Libertarian Party’s public announcement, I have this to say:
I disavow the party insiders whose priorities I believe have moved far away from the principles of individual liberty, limited government, personal responsibility, and constitutional freedom.
I disavow Scotty Bowman, Mike Saliba, Angela Thornton, Dana Carver, Jay Gillotte, and Rafael Wolf!
I will not bend my principles to make party leaders comfortable.
I will not trade my convictions for political acceptance.
And I will not ask permission from a political establishment to stand up for what I believe is right.
This campaign was never about serving a party.
It was about serving the people.
You don’t need a party to think for you.
You don’t need permission to question authority.
And you certainly don’t need to surrender your freedom just because someone tells you that’s what the party wants.
So if standing on principle means standing alone, then I’ll stand alone.
Because I would rather lose a political party than lose my principles.
I will not be controlled.
I will not be silenced.
I will not be bought.
I WILL BE FREE.
