Illegal migrant charged with death of Washington State Police Trooper
Collision on I-5 Claims Life of Washington Trooper: Unlawful Resident Arrested in Wake of Early Morning Tragedy
SEATTLE, Wash- Washington State Patrol Trooper Christopher Gadd, aged 27, lost his life while performing his duties.
The 32-year-old suspect, residing unlawfully in the United States and with a Lynnwood address, is currently in custody facing vehicular homicide charges. Identified as a citizen of Mexico by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the man's illegal status in the country has been highlighted following this fatal collision.

According to ICE, the suspect entered the United States without proper authorization and was first encountered by enforcement authorities in 2013 following an arrest. His criminal history includes various charges ranging from driving with a suspended license to domestic violence. The incident occurred as Trooper Gadd was stationed in the grassy area off the freeway's right shoulder, with a speeding SUV fatally striking his patrol vehicle.
CE provided the following dates and courts of criminal conviction:
May 3, 2013: Lynnwood Municipal Court, driving while license suspended or revoked, $750 fine
May 16, 2013: Lynnwood Municipal Court, marijuana possession of 40 grams or less, sentenced to 90 days incarceration with 87 days suspended
Oct. 6, 2014: SeaTac Municipal Court, driving while license suspended or revoked, sentenced to 90 days incarceration with 85 days suspended
May 24, 2019: King County Superior Court, domestic violence assault, no sentencing information available
