Grand Rapids Mayor Says If Yo Under Fire for “Ashamed” Gun Owner Comment and K-9 Remarks
On camera remarks about gun ownership and the future of police K 9 units spark criticism from residents and gun rights advocates.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids Mayor David LaGrand is facing criticism after video circulating on social media shows him saying that gun owners “should be ashamed of themselves.”
The remarks were made on camera and have since drawn backlash from gun rights advocates and some residents who argue that lawful firearm ownership is protected under the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
In the same video, LaGrand also addressed police K 9 units following an officer involved shooting. He said the Grand Rapids Police Department should consider ending the use of K 9 units and suggested the dogs be “put down,” comments that sparked additional criticism from supporters of the department’s K 9 program.

The discussion came during a community discussion on policing in the community.

Who voted for this guy?!
LeGrand is not looking for a second term is he? Because if I lived there he'd be done. No forward vote from me. Anyone taking away second amendment rights does NOT belong in anyone's party.
