Dangerous Fugitive Linked to Tren de Aragua Gang Arrested in Metro Detroit
Arrested stemmed from a shoplifting call
DETROIT — A Venezuelan national wanted for kidnapping and torture in Colorado and linked to the violent Tren de Aragua gang was taken into custody in Michigan following a shoplifting incident, authorities said.
U.S. Border Patrol agents and Auburn Hills police responded to a call about a theft on Tuesday that escalated into the capture of the fugitive, according to Chief Patrol Agent Michael W. Banks. The suspect is now facing charges under 8 U.S.C. 1253 for willfully refusing to depart the United States.
Tren de Aragua, a transnational criminal organization originating in Venezuela, has expanded its reach into the U.S., engaging in drug trafficking, extortion, human smuggling, and violent crimes. Law enforcement agencies across the country have intensified efforts to dismantle the gang and apprehend its members.

“USBP and law enforcement partners remain relentless in the pursuit of these dangerous criminals,” Banks said in a statement.
The suspect remains in custody as authorities move forward with deportation proceedings.
Arresting this man and deporting him will do no good. He will use an alias and return. The only way we will make any headway with this particular gang of cutthroats is to start executing them. It' s the only thing they understand.
