Some students and community members have expressed concern about how the situation was communicated, saying they would have preferred quicker or clearer updates after the posts appeared.
Students are also posting on social media saying the person is continuing to make online threats:
Police are asking anyone with information to contact their non-emergency line at (989) 774-3081.
University leaders say the Central Alert system remains the primary way to notify students and staff in the event of a verified danger, and they are encouraging everyone to make sure their contact information is up to date.
Support services are also being made available. The university’s Counseling Center and on-campus care teams are offering assistance to students who may feel uneasy following the incident.
Officials say they understand the concern but stress that, based on current information, the campus remains safe. Some students and parents disagree.
