Anthony Hudson Secures Libertarian Nomination for Michigan Governor
Truck driver and former Republican will represent the Libertarian Party in Michigan's 2026 governor's race.
LANSING, Mich - Anthony Hudson has secured the Michigan Libertarian Party nomination for Governor.
His challenger Scotty Bowman emailed me saying, “Yes. I concede, being his opponent on the final ballot.”
According to his campaign, Anthony Hudson's platform is centered on reducing the size and cost of government while expanding individual freedom and local control.
He proposes eliminating Michigan's property and state income taxes, cutting vehicle registration fees and the gas tax, and reducing regulations to make the state more affordable for families and businesses.
His platform also supports restoring local decision-making on energy projects, expanding the use of natural gas, protecting Second Amendment rights, strengthening parental rights in education, increasing cooperation on immigration enforcement, improving mental health resources, and supporting veterans. Hudson says his goal is to create a more affordable, transparent, and constitutionally focused Michigan government.
Anthony Hudson initially entered Michigan's 2026 gubernatorial race as a Republican but announced in February 2026 that he was leaving the GOP to run as the Libertarian Party's candidate for governor.
Hudson said he believed he had been pushed out by the Republican Party and decided to continue his campaign under the Libertarian banner. He made the announcement during an interview with Dave Bondy and said he was filing the necessary paperwork to change his party affiliation while continuing his campaign.
