American flag replaced by Palestinian flag on college campus

Protesters at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill have removed the American flag and replaced it with a Palestinian one.

What is going on at college campuses? Why is this being allowed?

The University has issued an Alert Carolina message announcing the suspension of all classes and non-mandatory operations for the remainder of the day and the institution is now under Condition 2 until 11:59 p.m.

During the confrontation, some protesters threw water at the interim chancellor and the police, who in turn used pepper spray on protesters and media members. The event drew a large crowd of over 1,000 students, faculty, and community members. Currently, no flag is flying on the pole.
